Daytona Beach, Florida - a overflow crowd packed the Mainland High School Media Center at noon today to watch as the Captain of the 2010 Mainland High School Baseball team, Travis Hutchins, signed with St. Petersburg College.
St. Petersburg Head Coach Dave Pano addressed the gathering via telephone and said he is looking forward to having the power hitting third baseman on his squad and disclosed this was his first ever Volusia County high school player signing.
Travis spoke to the crowd and thanked everyone for making this day possible, special mentions were given to Mainland Head Baseball Coach Michael Burton, Principal Dr. Cheryl Salerno , Assistant Principal Dan Eppelheimer, Athletic Director Dick Toth and local professional player JR House.
Coach Burton also addressed the crowd and mentioned that Mainland continues to lead Volusia County in the number of players going on to college to pursue their baseball dream.
